ROSELLE, Ill., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Barnhart Motorsports announced today that it will be holding a National Press Conference in Phoenix, AZ on Wednesday, March 24th to announce the team's affiliation with the Kent Waldrep ational Paralysis Foundation.
Team Barnhart will be "RACING FOR SPINAL VICTORY" throughout the 1999 IRL season. The Kent Waldrep National Paralysis Foundation was founded in 1985 by Mr. Kent Waldrep. Waldrep was injured during the TCU vs. Alabama football game in 1974 where during a critical play, Waldrep broke his neck and was rendered quadriplegic. The Foundation has raised millions of dollars over the past 25 years to fund research to find a cure for paralysis, and the support of racing fans will bring them ever-closer to the cure.
The Barnhart Motorsports team will be "RACING FOR SPINAL VICTORY" to raise both money and awareness in the fight to find a cure for paralysis. Greg Barnhart, President of Barnhart Motorsports stated "As a new team, we are honored and privileged to be 'Racing for Spinal Victory' and we encourage all racing fans nationwide to support this worthy cause. Let's all band together as fans of this fantastic sport and be the ones to help people like Kent Waldrep get out of their wheelchairs forever!"
A toll-free number has been set up to receive donations and to give out information on the Foundation and it's efforts: 1-877-SCI-CURE (724-2873.)
