Miss Money: Urban music producer/vocalist living wit Muscular dystrophy - Genre: Rap, R&B Gospel DJ

Money was diagnosed with myotonic muscular dystrophy in the fall of 2004.

The rare genetic disease affects 1 in 8,000 but Money has kept an upbeat attitude and continues to produce, dj and sing regularly. She has used the diagnosis as a motivational message of faith and Christ although at first, neurologists were weary. Money states, "On Sept. 10, 2004, the doctors told me to throw away my career. On Sept. 10, 2005, God blessed me to attend the world premiere of my film debut at the Toronto International Film Festival...a year to the date. My message is simple - muscular dystrophy is not the end. In my case, its been the threshold of my dreams and maybe with music I can spread that joy is something the body can't contain." In 2006, Miss Money's theme is "Walking in Faith".

Money is a believer in hard work and uses negativity to fuel her grind. She states, "My career is straight forward. I work and I don't gripe. I spent 5 years at Berklee and 3 years singing karaoke. That's 8 years outside of an industry that never wanted me. I spent those 8 years working and learning before I even considered doing this seriously and I know now that those were good choices. No one wants to take the long road to success anymore...I don't mind. I used those eight years to go to lectures, learn how to wire studios and route signals. I'm glad I did it." The Berklee tradition continues in Money's career as she recently accepted an invitation to become an Alumni Adviser for Berklee's Career Network. She still exhibits her Boston bred b-girl spirit and continues to drop hot DJ mixes working as one of Houston's hottest underground she-jays. Money is in her third year of dj residency at Houston's hot nite spot, G Spot, voted Best Women's Club in Houston by the Houston Voice. She appears as in house club mixer there at last twice a month. She has opened for entertainment greats such as BET comedy star, Joe Torrey and has appeared on concert bills with 2005 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, Percy Sledge, blues legends Bobby Blue Bland, Shirley Brown and Marvin Sease. Money has performed at the Budweiser Blues Festival, the Houston Women's Festival, LA's Serafemme Festival, Toronto's Panorama Club, Party on the Plaza, Reebok's Lowdown Classic, Summer Blast 2005, the 1864 Opera House and the George R. Brown Convention Center. She has also been chronicled on TV on Icehouse and was the feature artist on a special episode Live w/Terri Atwater (dedicated o Hurricane Katrina victims). She has appeared in two independent films, four compilations, dozens of mixtapes and is currently heard on Sky Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Digital Radio. Her music is currently in radio rotation in the US, Croatia, Italy, Australia, United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Canada and South Africa. She is a devout Christian who mixes and masters records as a hobby.
